Two hours of captions and ums.
For every single video.
I make talking-head videos for Instagram and TikTok. Talking is the fun part. Then come two or three hours of writing captions and cutting out every um, every pause and every retake.
CapCut's cheapest paid plan costs 700 CZK a month here in Czechia, about $30. And its Czech captions were so bad that I retyped most of them anyway.
So I'm building the editor I wanted. AI on your computer writes the captions, with the model that knows your language best and the names you actually say. The ChatGPT or Claude you already pay for makes the rough cut. It doesn't make videos for you. It does the boring part.
Nuzky is free, and it stays free. There's no paid plan coming. The code is public, so nobody can take the free version away. Not even me.
Nuzky comes from nůžky, Czech for scissors.
From raw clips
to a finished cut.

Drop in your clips
Nuzky opens video from any phone or camera, including HEVC and variable frame rate.
Caption it
AI on your computer writes the captions in your language. Pick a style and fix any word it misheard.

Export anywhere
Vertical for Reels and TikTok, widescreen for YouTube, any size up to 4K. The file matches the preview.
Or hand the cut to ChatGPT or Claude.
You watch, and one undo takes it all back.
The intro drags. Start on the first thing I say.
Trimming the quiet start of the first clip.
Put Sunrise under the whole video, quietly.
Adding it under everything at −18 dB, with a fade at the end.
The caption at 0:07 should say “ridge”, not “bridge”.
Fixing the word in the transcript.
Looks good. Export it for Reels.
Exporting 1080 × 1920 at 30 fps.
Cut the ums and long pauses, then add captions in the Bold style.
On it. I'll transcribe first, then cut.

Every change goes through the same undo as yours. Your controls lock while it works and come back when it stops.
It learns how you edit.
Then cuts the next video your way.
Give Nuzky a few raw recordings and the videos you cut from them. It writes down how you edit, with examples from your own videos, and your AI follows it on every new video. Change a line, and the next cut changes with it.
Your recordings and the videos you cut from them
Your style, written down in a file you can read and change
ACTUALLYWORKSYour AI cuts the next recording the way you would
Built like a pro tool.
Without the price of one.

Frame accurate
Every cut lands on the exact frame you picked, even in iPhone and Android video.

Opens the right way up
Selfies and sideways phone videos open the way you shot them, in the preview and in the export.
ACTUALLYWORKS
ACTUALLYWORKSWhat you see is what you export
The file you post looks exactly like the preview.
Captions in your language
Pick your language and the model that knows it best, and tell it the names you use. It runs on your computer, with no limit.
As loud as the feed
Export levels your sound the way social apps expect, so nobody has to turn you up.
Saves every edit
A crash or a closed window never costs you a cut.
No account,
no watermark,
no subscription.
Free, for good
The code is public, so it stays free. Your videos stay on your computer while you edit, caption and export.
Before you switch.
The usual questions.
Is Nuzky really free?
Yes. No subscription, no watermark on your videos, no sign-up and no paid plan coming. The code is public, so it stays free. If you let AI do the cutting, it runs on the ChatGPT or Claude plan you already have.
When can I download it?
Soon. The first version for Mac, Windows and Linux is on its way. Leave your email below and you'll get one email when it's out. If you're on GitHub, you can also watch the releases. Nuzky releases on GitHub
How is Nuzky different from CapCut?
Nothing in Nuzky is locked behind a paid plan, so export never asks you to upgrade. It's made for editing on a computer. CapCut has more templates and effects, and a phone app. Compare Nuzky and CapCut
Are the auto captions free?
Yes, with no limit. AI on your computer writes them from what you say. Pick the model that's best for your language, give it the names and words you use, and fix anything it still gets wrong. Then pick a style and make the spoken word light up.
Are my videos private?
Yes. Your videos stay on your computer, and nothing gets uploaded to edit, caption or export them. If you ask an AI to edit for you, it sees what's said in the video and the frames it checks.
Can AI edit the video for me?
Yes. Type what you want, like “cut the ums and pauses and add captions”, and watch it edit in the app. Stop it any time, and one undo takes it all back. It runs on the ChatGPT or Claude plan you already pay for, and Nuzky walks you through setting it up. It doesn't work on Windows yet.
Do I need ChatGPT or Claude?
Only if you want AI to make the rough cut. Editing, captions and export work without them. AI cutting doesn't work on Windows yet.
Will videos from my phone work?
Yes. iPhone and Android videos open the right way up, selfies included, and every cut lands on the exact frame you picked.
Is it ready for TikTok, Reels, Shorts and YouTube?
Yes. Pick the Reels & TikTok export and you get a vertical 1080 × 1920 video with the volume levelled for social apps. For YouTube, export widescreen at any size up to 4K.
Who makes Nuzky?
Tomáš Mach, a creator from Czechia who got tired of spending hours on captions and rough cuts. The name comes from nůžky, Czech for scissors.
